Learning Journey

Learning Journey

The learning journal offers a holistic insight into how each young child learns and progresses through the Early Years Foundation Stage of the National Curriculum. Practitioners will collect evidence of development and learning, which provides a useful foundation record as the child moves towards their reception year at school.

Observational assessments are used as the most accurate means of creating a clear picture of individual progression, and each nursery is free under EYFS Statutory Assessment requirements to create the journal in their own preferred way. Assessment includes contributions from the child, encouraging them to share their own thoughts and feelings on what they are learning, as well as from other adults who interact regularly with the child.

As parents you can view your child’s learning journey whenever you like, please ask a member of staff. Once your child leaves nursery the learning journey will be passed over to you.
