What is the HAF scheme?
The HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) scheme is designed to provide healthy and enriching food and activities to all children aged between 4 and 16 who are eligibly to receive benefit-related Free School Meals. The HAF scheme is a national scheme and has been running in the South Ribble area since 2021 across the Summer, Christmas and Easter holidays.
Through a range of high quality activity providers, we are able to deliver a wide range of different activities as part of the HAF scheme and while they change throughout they year, we try to include a variety of options such as swimming, gymnastics, tennis, arts and crafts, football and much more.
The HAF scheme is completely free of charge (providing your child is eligible), provides fun activities and experiences to keep them busy over the holidays and includes food and refreshments for free.
Is my child eligible?
If you live within the South Ribble borough and your child is aged between 4 and 16, and eligible for free school meals, then your child is eligible. Where the activity is scheduled for families, for example a family swimming session for four, then the rest of the family would also be able to attend.
If your child is not eligible for free school meals, as long as there is availability for the session you are welcome to turn up on the day and join in.

The timetable and booking links can be found on the South Ribble Borough Council website by clicking here. Booking a space for your child takes just a few minutes, simply read the timetable, find the session that you want to book and click on the corresponding link.
