Outdoor Play Areas

Outdoor Learning

At Carr Manor Nursery, we believe that some of the best learning happens outdoors. Our outdoor environments are an extension of our classrooms, providing children with exciting opportunities to explore, discover and learn through play every day.

We have dedicated outdoor spaces for each age group, including separate areas for our babies, toddlers and pre-school children. Each area has been thoughtfully designed to support children’s development, offering age-appropriate resources and experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and active learning.

Outdoor play is an important part of our daily routine in all weathers. Whether children are climbing, balancing, digging, building, painting, exploring nature or enjoying imaginative play, they are developing essential physical, social and emotional skills while having fun in the fresh air.

Our practitioners use the outdoor environment to extend learning across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Children investigate the changing seasons, care for plants, search for minibeasts, enjoy sensory experiences and develop an appreciation of the natural world through hands-on exploration.

For our youngest children, outdoor play provides valuable opportunities to crawl, walk, explore textures and strengthen their developing physical skills in a safe and stimulating environment. Older children are encouraged to take appropriate risks, solve problems, work together and build confidence through a wide variety of challenging and engaging activities.

We are passionate about helping children develop healthy, active lifestyles and a lifelong love of being outdoors. Whatever the weather, we ensure children can enjoy outdoor play safely, with shaded areas for sunny days, waterproof clothing and wellies for rainy adventures, and plenty of opportunities to experience the joy of learning in nature.
